Hi, my name is Trisha Wescom. My family and I have fallen in love with Great Danes! We take pride in being honored enough to have such beautiful creatures accept us and allow us to live in their home! LOL! Our dogs are everything to us. My daughter Ashlynn, and son, Ayden are the registered owners of CKC Registered "Isis" Blue Godess on Earth. My husband, Joe, and I are the owners of Dual AKC/CKC Registered, "Harley" Quinn. In early 2006, we purchased "Harley" at 16 weeks of age. In March of 2007, we rescued the late, CKC Registered, "Dude" Skooby, Rest in Peace Big Boy. At 18 months old, the top of his head came up to my bust, I am 5'4". He was my baby. By fate, we were blessed with a litter of his puppies before his passing. We didn't have any idea until "Harley" started showing. Pup's were born November 16th. You can see pictures of them under their Litter Page. They have become beautiful creatures and hold a very special spot in each of their families. "Isis" was the puppy we all fell in love with and decided to keep!
"Coupe"
In January of 2008, we relocated to Alabama. We had taken the dogs to the local park, where all the locals would go, and they always got such a huge welcome. That's where we met the owners of "Coupe". Funny, cause they asked about "Isis" and thought she was almost a year old. She was only 4 months old. That summer, we bred Dual AKC/CKC Registered, Paige's Cadillac "Coupe" Deville and "Harley" and got our July '08 Litter. Pup's were (ironically) born on July 16th. You can see pictures of them under their Litter Page!
In November of 2008, we moved to our new property in Blythe, GA. We have a lot more space now. As much as we wanted to use "Moose" as the sire of our next litter, certain circumstances left him unable to visit this year:( So in February '09 we decided to get our newest addition!! His name is "Jakiya" and he is a Dual AKC/CKC registered Fawn Merle. We decided to get him when our dear friend, told us about how she had a friend who needed to re-home her guy because her son was going off to college and was not able to care for him all by herself with young ones still at home! So we adopted both "Jakiya" and our new extended family the Osbourne's in Ohio!! LOL! As soon as he arrived, after making a 14 hour trip with Joe, he fell in love with both "Harley" & "Isis" and fit himself right into our family! He will make a wonderful daddy to our next litter and we are ecstatic about having him! He and Joe seem to be new found best friends and he is absolutely gorgeous so we think he's a keeper!!
In the spring of '09 we were outside at our new property and an army man came walking back to speak with us....we were kind of like, "Can we help you?" Well he got to telling us about his great dane and brought us out front to meet his Family. He had this gorgeous black male in the back of his giant SUV, so we gave him our lovin's and noticed a little brindle pup standing up underneath him. I fell in love with her right there!! I have always wanted a brindle! Well in the summer, his wife called me and as much as I could hear it breaking her heart, she was needing some help finding some great homes for the dogs, as the children had developed allergies. So we kind of jumped at the opportunity to have her. The end of July '09, we welcomed our newest addition into our family and she took like a fish to water. Like she had been here all along. Her name was already "Daisy", which we loved, only we had a pup in the June '09 litter named "Dayzi"! The pup "Dayzi" got a new name with her new family so we took the spelling back for the newly accuired "Daisy"! LOL!! So now she is "Dayzi Dayne" Divine's Delight!! She is AKC registered and we will most likely do her Dual with CKC as well! We are excited to have her and hope to be able to begin her in training for shows and Junior Show with Ashlynn! Come back to hear about future litters and see updated pic's! Welcome to DivineDanes.com!! Happy Browsing!!!
More About Me....
I have had ton's of experience with animals of all kinds. I am an only child so growing up I had alot of pets. Everything from Ferrets, to 4 1/2 foot Iguanas, to goats and chickens, to cats and dogs and more to mention! For my 11th Birthday, my father got me an "Old World" Longhaired German Shephard puppy with champion bloodlines. When I was around 13 we got "Jake" a mate from the police force and started breeding police dogs for the police departments. This was in Golden, CO which has State, County and City Police Departments so most went straight into the academy for training. He was also sought after by a neighbor of our's, who was a dog show judge and German Shephard Author, from Germany! He offered several $1000's of dollars for him, several times over the years, but he was my birthday present so I never gave in!!! Luckily, I got to gain alot of experience before going to work at my very first job! The Sage Valley Pet Center in Golden, CO. I got to work side by side with accredited dog trainer Ted Terroux. I moved up fairly quickly from kennel cleaner, to dog walker and eventually up to Groomer's Assistant. I was taught everything from doggy diets and excercise programs, to designer shampoos, how to spot stress, and low and behold, the pooper scoooper. I was trained to give oral meds and how to give shots properly by the on-call vet who came often! We also offered on site obedience training. I can honestly say, I learned everything I know now through many years of personal efforts, and the teachings of such open hearted, well to do people.
Our pups are our everything. We put everything we humanly can into the pups, hoping they will make the best fit for their future families. We don't do so much "training" in obedience, but in my opinion, more with their manners. These dogs, at adulthood, can with no problem, get on your countertops and dinnertable, push over children, and seriously injure small animals such as cats. Our dogs are not allowed in the kitchen while we eat, no exceptions. We have children who drop stuff all the time, but they can't come in unless we have left and cleaned the table up (or leave a plate or 2 for licking!). Our dogs are not allowed to jump up on us, unless asked to. We have a full flight of stairs up to the 2nd floor, they aren't allowed to go up or down the stairs unless there are no humans, they are certainly large enough to send my 2 yr old tumbling down the stairs if they are rude and push their way through, so we just don't allow it whatsoever. We do not allow our dogs to be food aggressive. Don't allow, you say? We all, my children included, are constantly putting our hands on the pups while they eat, in their food bowls, in their food. If someone is even thinking about being aggressive over the food, we start immediately working on it, to nip it in the butt before they get big enough to hurt one another.
When I worked for Mr. Ted Terroux, I was a groomer's assistant for the latter part of my time there. Our dogs are given semi-professional groomings on a regular basis. We use high quality, professional grade shampoos (and doggy cologne when I have it :) We do their ears and nails as well. This helps to make bathing as an adult, more tolerated, in turn, making it much easier to keep this huge breed tidy! I say "semi-professional" because they are Danes, and they don't require a whole heck of a lot of upkeep, but they need to be exposed to their feet being handled and their ears being touched, especially in those who get their ears cropped, as that can be a very "iffy" spot for dogs who have it performed. Nail clipping is a must. Their nails can be more like talons if not cared for correctly, so we start very early, not only is nursing nore comfortable for Momma, but they get that exposure for the future.
Thanks for taking the time to read our story!
